EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL CALL
OBJECTIVES
The Green Deal call will mobilize research and innovation to promote a just and sustainable social transition with the aim of “leaving no one behind”.
Projects are expected to produce tangible and visible results relatively quickly and show how research and innovation can provide concrete solutions to the Green Deal’s top priorities.
Therefore, the call will support pilot applications, demonstration projects and innovative product innovation for better governance of social innovation and the value chain of the green and digital transition.
In addition to technological development and demonstration, the call encourages experimentation and social innovation to find new ways to engage civil society and empower citizens.
In relation to the current pandemic, the call will contribute to green and digital recovery and to increase society’s resistance, for example in agriculture, the acceleration of biodiversity from renewable energies, clean transport and modernization towards a clean and circular industry.
HOW THE CALL IS STRUCTURED
The Green Deal call is made up of 11 areas:
Eight thematic areas reflect the eight key work streams of the European Green Deal. Topics focus on high-impact, targeted technology and social innovations that can help move the sustainable transition forward relatively quickly.
three horizontal areas (strengthening of knowledge; empowerment of citizens; and international cooperation) that cross the eight thematic areas and offer a longer-term perspective to achieve the transformations established in the European Green Deal.
