DELTA is an international project that arose in response to the need to strengthen and modernize the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system in Ethiopia. The project focuses on the personal and professional development of young Ethiopians between the ages of 18 and 29, through an updated digital training toolkit aligned with the current needs of the labor market.
DELTA’s main objective is to create a sustainable “Digital Training Ecosystem” capable of generating long-term impact on the Ethiopian VET system. This ecosystem is built on three fundamental pillars:
- Capacity building: strengthening the skills, abilities, and resources of VET teachers and trainers in Ethiopia.
- Public-private synergy: promoting collaboration between universities, public institutions, and private industries to ensure that training responds to economic and labor market demands.
- Digital innovation: developing and implementing a MOOC platform that offers practical courses geared toward employability and professional careers, with the issuance of micro-credentials for students.
The project is supported by an international consortium connecting Europe and Ethiopia, combining educational expertise, digital innovation, and knowledge of the local context:
- Italy: Skill Up
- Spain: Instituto Ikigai
- Ethiopia: F-TVET Institute; Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU); Ovid Academy; Ovid Construction
