BEAT (Bringing Equality, Accessibility, and Togetherness) is an Erasmus+ project that harnesses the transformative power of music to support educators and young people in promoting inclusion, equity, and well-being through choral activities. By creating shared musical experiences, the project contributes to creating discrimination-free environments and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.
BEAT stands out for its practical and innovative approach, focused on organizing inclusive choral activities that empower young people to create accessible spaces. Through specialized training, the project addresses the main obstacles that hinder the full participation of people with disabilities in the field of music.
The project is structured around four key lines of action:
- Practical workshops: interactive training in Palermo where young people learn techniques for collaboration, inclusion, and social cohesion through music.
- Inclusive toolkit: development of a comprehensive guide with best practices, tools, and recommendations for integrating accessibility into choirs.
- Final live performance: a multisensory performance in Zaragoza that brings together a diverse group of singers to showcase unity and inclusion in practice.
- Documentary and dissemination: creation of a professional documentary to share the project’s results and best practices through European networks.
Target groups:
- Directly: young people aged 18 to 30, including people with disabilities and young people from different cultural and social backgrounds.
- Indirectly: choir directors and music teachers looking for resources to create inclusive spaces, as well as European choirs interested in integrating people of all abilities.
