The Ikigai Institute is joining a new European project that brings together music, youth, and inclusion. The project is called BEAT – Bringing Equality, Accessibility, and Togetherness, a small-scale Erasmus+ KA210-YOU initiative that uses the transformative power of choral singing to promote equality, accessibility, and a sense of community.
The project, with a budget of €60,000 and a duration from September 2025 to February 2027, seeks to create inclusive choral environments where young people—especially those with disabilities—can express themselves, feel part of a group, and improve their social and emotional well-being.
A diverse international consortium
BEAT is led by the Asociación Coro Cantatutti (Spain) and involves the participation of partners with extensive experience and commitment:
-European Choral Association – Europa Cantat (Germany), a leading European network in the choral field.
-Associazione Rock10eLode (Italy), with experience in artistic initiatives for social change.
-Instituto Ikigai (Spain), which contributes its vision of youth empowerment through digital education and social transformation projects.
Each partner will contribute a unique component: from the development of accessible technologies (such as vibrating backpacks and visual systems) to educational methodologies and international networks.
Key project activities
Throughout its implementation, BEAT will develop innovative actions that bring together education, music, and social participation:
-Practical workshops on musical connection and inclusion, focused on young people aged 18 to 30, with and without disabilities.
-Creation of a European toolkit, which will bring together resources, best practices, and methodologies to inspire inclusive choirs across Europe.
-Grand final performance in Zaragoza, a multisensory show with sign language, visual systems, adapted arrangements, and assistive technologies to demonstrate how choral singing can be truly accessible.
-Follow-up, quality, and dissemination actions, ensuring that the results have a lasting impact and reach educational and cultural communities across Europe.
A message of equality
BEAT was born with a clear conviction: music is not just performance, it is a right to participation, expression, and community. With this initiative, choirs become spaces where diverse young people can live, share, and grow together.
The project celebrates diversity, rejects discrimination, and demonstrates that everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the right to sing, belong, and thrive in the same collective heartbeat.
