BeReal4Compost
The BeReal4Compost project was born out of a desire to combine the need to combat global climate change with the need to drive economic development in the business world. Awareness of the usefulness of TEVs in these issues served to promote it as a tool for building an efficient workforce geared towards environmental sustainability, promoting innovation and job opportunities in green industries.
The project has been designed by young women working in organisations who realised that youth and young adults are indeed highly motivated to act in building a better future by mitigating the climate crisis, but lack the theoretical and practical knowledge and methodology to pursue this goal. Therefore, the activities proposed in the project aim to raise awareness of environmental issues and equip individuals with the practical skills they lack. As today’s young people represent the future generation, it is very important to raise their awareness and promote their participation in the activities.
The expected results of BeReal4Compost are as follows:
- A minimum of 60 young composting experts;
- Getting young people to take action in their communities and move beyond climate-related social media campaigns (from the screen to being seen by decision-makers);
- Provide training for young people to build their capacity in concrete civic engagement strategies that bring about change among local decision-makers in their countries;
- Provide quality training-of-trainers material that can be used as a reference by any trainer working with young people in VET on environmental awareness, climate action and related civic engagement projects;
- Publish a youth-focused handbook on
Five activities will be carried out.
WP1 – Project planning and launching.
WP2 – Empowerment for Climate Action Workshops: virtual training sessions aimed at developing civic engagement capacity for positive climate initiatives in youth.
WP3 – 1-to-1 Composting Training: virtual training sessions aiming to cover all topics related to bio-waste management in the EU and to allow participants to get to know each other in order to merge their campaigns.
WP4 – LTTA: Community participation workshop on bio-waste management: organisation of a 5-day LTTA in Brussels.
WP5 – BeReal4Compost Manual: this WP will deal with the collaborative creation of the ‘BeReal4Compost Manual: How to involve young people in the circular management of bio-waste’.
