Through interactive, non-formal learning approaches, approximately 30 young individuals participated in a series of dynamic workshops designed to foster understanding, inclusion and empowerment with the PRIDE EDU project.
The training sessions, which took place on February 21-22 and March 14, provided a safe and collaborative environment for participants to explore key topics related to LGBTQ+ communities. Rather than following a pre-defined curriculum, local research was conducted and participants were encouraged to select the topics most relevant to them. This participatory approach resulted in rich discussions about drag culture, sex education, social inclusion, and the experiences of LGBTQ+ people in school settings. These topics were addressed through creative activities, group discussions, and role-playing exercises, ensuring an interactive and meaningful learning experience.
One of the most notable outcomes of these sessions was the development of a podcast, which will soon be available on the social media channels of the PRIDE EDU project and its partner organizations. The podcast includes discussions on LGBTQ+ teens and sex education, with a special segment dedicated to sexually transmitted infections, to provide accessible and inclusive information for young people.
Meanwhile, in France, partner organization Le Girofard in Bordeaux conducted parallel activities, engaging 15 young people in workshops and discussions on similar topics, further amplifying the project’s impact.
Looking ahead, the PRIDE EDU project will continue to promote intercultural learning and exchange. From April 28 to May 1, a group of five young adults from France will join the Ikigai Institute team for an enriching experience focused on study visits, knowledge exchange and exploration of the city of Zaragoza. This initiative will provide participants with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of LGBTQ+ issues in different cultural contexts, connect with their peers and strengthen the network of young advocates for inclusion and equality.
