We are very excited to announce the approval of our 4th project under the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme).
This programme aims to support and develop open, democratic, egalitarian and inclusive societies, always guided by the principles of the rule of law. This includes an empowered civil society, which encourages social participation of citizens and cultivates diversity in European society.
CESR is based on four fundamental pillars:
1. equality, rights and gender equality: promoting rights, non-discrimination, equality (including gender equality) and advancing gender mainstreaming and non-discrimination.
2. Citizens‘ engagement and participation: promoting citizens’ engagement and participation in the democratic life of the Union, exchanges between citizens from different Member States and raising awareness of Europe’s common history.
3. Daphne – combating violence, including gender-based violence and violence against children.
4. Union values – protecting and promoting the Union’s values
At Ikigai, with our MENTOR project, we aim to make people understand how important freedom of speech and thought is for democracy and to inform target groups about a forgotten form of resistance. In addition to promoting a comparative approach to how humour was used during different European dictatorships and to prevent intolerance in the future and encourage dialogue around the stories of individuals and professionals to deconstruct the discourse that leads to intolerance and promote the values of an open democratic society, which strives for freedom, justice, equality and fundamental human rights.
We are convinced that this project will contribute to building a European society that is fairer, more tolerant and committed to the values that unite us. We continue to work for a better future!
