PROFIT: Empowering young Europeans through financial education
The PROFIT (Personal Reflection On Finance, Investment, Terminology) project is an Erasmus+ initiative focused on improving the financial literacy of young people across Europe. Its mission is to equip young people with essential financial skills for life—such as money management, understanding contracts, and managing bank accounts—facilitating an informed and secure transition to adulthood.
What does the project consist of?
Moving away from traditional teaching methods, PROFIT uses an innovative approach: a Gamified Digital Graphic Novel (GDGN). This tool combines the power of storytelling with game dynamics, making complex financial concepts accessible, engaging, and interactive for young audiences.
Key aspects
The project is based on the following pillars:
- Financial education as a life skill: Promoting financial literacy as an indispensable tool for personal well-being.
- Educational innovation: Using gamification and digital storytelling to increase engagement and learning effectiveness.
- Inclusion and accessibility: Ensuring that educational resources reach and are useful to vulnerable youth groups.
- Strengthening the ecosystem: Empowering educators, parents, and community organizations to act as guides in the financial education of young people.
Key project results
PROFIT will develop a series of practical resources to transform financial education:
- Gamified Digital Graphic Novel (GDGN): An interactive platform for learning about finance through stories and challenges.
- Financial Dictionary: A clear guide to understanding and clarifying complex economic terms.
- Financial Skills Map: A list of key skills needed by today’s youth.
- Community of Practice (CoP): A meeting place for young people, educators, and experts interested in promoting financial literacy.
Funded by the European Union, the PROFIT project seeks to prepare new generations for a stable and prosperous future by strengthening their confidence in economic decision-making.
