FOREST ADAPT Project
Rural community ADAPTs to natural forest fires!
Europe has experienced an increase frequency and severity of weather- and climate-related natural hazards such as droughts, forest fires, heat waves and heavy precipitation.
FOREST ADAPT is a small-scale project and has as a priority, in relation to the set objectives, the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change.
In particular, the objectives set concern:
- Adaptation to natural forest fires by creating small joint cooperation network which effective respond to forest fires;
- Enable adaptation of partner’s rural communities to natural forest fires by developing “Local Adaptation Plan”;
- Enable partners’ inclusive rural local community of adults to learn specific technical and life-skills necessary to be adaptable in the face of forest fires disasters;
- Raise awareness about climate change effects and adaptation on natural forest fires.
The network involving project partners and external experts will create a “Local Adaptation Plan for forest fires” ready to be implemented. Based on this document, educational materials will be available and trained staff from organizations will be supposed to participate on emergency actions as well as the adults possibly affected by forest fire which will know how to limit the disaster effects.
The small-scale partnership is composed of Romania, Bulgaria, Spain and Italy.
