Moreover, the innovative part of the ESCAPE project is that, in addition to the existing spiritual counselling services provided in prisons and probation institutions, the training methodology to be developed in the project is more scientifically based.
The specific objectives of the project are to collect a number of good examples of spiritual counselling methodology in EU prisons in order to obtain a science-based transnational methodological framework.
At this transnational meeting on 21-21 May we met in Timișoara to further advance the project, these steps include the process of collecting a set of good examples of Spiritual Counselling Methodologies (SCM) in European prisons and other educational institutions dealing with the education of young inmates;
The good examples collected from this project activity will be a step forward in the creation of a methodology for spiritual counsellors, which will result in a transnational science-based methodological framework (together with its tools, such as the spiritual well-being scale for young prisoners) on SCM in the prison context.
We also discussed an ongoing quality assurance procedure, including a quality assurance survey and a relevant report every six months to assess the progress of the project.
We also participated in transnational learning, teaching and training activities together with invited personalities from all the countries involved in the project, as we felt that they could contribute to the development of a scientific methodology of spiritual counselling.
On the second day we also had the opportunity to visit the Prison Centre of Timișoara, during which we interacted with the Romanian prison organisation. These were deeply enriching days that gave us the energy and awareness to proceed to develop the next phases of the project.
